I am a mid west based landscape photographer. I began my career in 1992 after receiving my Bachelors of Arts in Photography and a Bachelors of Science in Forestry from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I worked for the National Park Service and National Forest Service as a photographer before opening my commercial advertising photography studio. Today I am still a commercial photographer. To see that work I invite you to visit www.trentfoltz.com
I concentrate my fine art photography on the mid west rural landscape where I live. We do not have tall mountains covered in snow or white sand beaches with palm trees. We do however have a landscape that help make this country. In this landscape stands structures that really stick out, barns. I have spent over 15 years of my 30 year professional career capturing farm structures. Every year more and more are being torn down because they are no longer needed or in complete disrepair.
I enjoy color and black and white images. I do not limit my thinking to one or the other. I let the image tell me which direction it wants go.
I have made it my goal to document this landscape that is very important to me. Re-imagining the mid west landscape.
I am more concerned about the Why of photography and not the How. The how always works its self out. Why, that is my biggest motivation.
I hope you enjoy my images. I always love to hear from people that feel the same way.
